Skyline Hikers of Canadian Rockies (SHCR)

Since 1933, the Skyline Hikers of the Canadian Rockies have offered a unique way
to experience the back country of Canada's mountain parks.

Past Hikes

As described in the history section, the first few years had traveling camps in the Banff and Lake Louise area. Since then the hikes have been at fixed locations in and around Banff Park, sometimes exploring new areas and other times returning to old favourites.

Some of the sites used by the Skyline Hikers of the Canadian Rockies in the past are no longer available for future use due to environmental regulations respecting the preservation of sensitive habitat, species in danger or at risk (e.g., woodland caribou), or protecting species from encounters with humans (e.g., grizzly bears and wolves). SHCR has an active program of identifying new sites in the Canadian Rockies for future annual camps and hike programs.
